Resources for People of color

It is a known fact that people of color, in particular members of the African American and Latinx communities, are disproportionately impacted by sexual and reproductive injustices. Reproductive justice (RJ) is an inherently intersectional issue, meaning other factors of identity play a role in how RJ impacts a persons life. In the case of RJ in the United States, race, socioeconomic status, geography, etc. can all impact accessibility to sexual and reproductive healthcare, education, and rights. In the US the risk of death from pregnancy complications is almost 4 times higher for African American women than for it is for white women. The Guttmacher Institute states that African Americans and Hispanics experience significantly higher rates of STIs, specifically chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. These facts are the result of a system that purposefully ignores the serious problems people of color face in a variety of aspects of life. Check out a few resources below to learn more:
