Emergency Contraceptives
Had unprotected sex? Don’t worry! Emergency contraceptives can prevent pregnancy up to 5 days after unprotected sex.* There are a few different types of emergency contraceptives and it is, again, important to do research about each method to make an informed decision. *(Important note: they work best when used within the first 72 hrs after unprotected sex!)
Plan B
Plan B, also known as emergency contraception, is most effective when taken in the first 24 hours after having unprotected sex but can be taken up to a few days after. It should be noted, however, that it is not something to regularly take or rely on because it can have a great impact on the individual’s health and hormone regulation. Plan B is generally between $40 and $55 at the pharmacy but Parton Health Center offers it for $14.
